The Category Icons plugin allows you to add custom icons to the classifieds categories created on your site. The images you choose for category icons help to better highlight categories, provide visual representation, and allow users to instantly identify the right category by just taking a quick look at the icon. A category icons plugin is designed to streamline user navigation across multiple categories and make browsing more enjoyable.
Front End
When a user wants to browse the available categories on your site, they will see the corresponding image icon next to each category (the icon's position relative to the category can be configured in the backend). The plugin is especially handy for classifieds sites with multiple categories and subcategories. Instead of reading the name of each category or multiple subcategories, the user can now find the right image, for example a camera icon for camcorders and accessories or a jacket for clothing, click on it and navigate to the right category.
Back End
After installation, you can add category icons directly in the Add Category section in the backend. If you want to further configure the plugin to better suit your site's needs, you can do so by navigating to the Category Icon Manager, which is added to the Basic Settings section in the backend.
To start configuring the plugin, you can set the icon width and height in pixels and enable or disable cropping. You can also choose the icon position relative to the category name and place it either to the left or right of the category or above or below. After configuring the plugin in the backend, you can proceed to adding the image icons to the categories on your site.
